A new school year is kicking off in North America and other parts of the world, and it’s the perfect season to host a WakeUp to ignite your school or community.

The Generation Waking Up Experience – called a WakeUp for short – continues to be one of the most powerful tools for mobilizing today’s young Millennial generation. With its engaging music & videos, experiential group activities, and empowering vision of what’s possible for our time, participants walk away inspired to play their role in creating a thriving, just, and sustainable world.

As you think about hosting a WakeUp at your school or in your community, here are a number of possibilities to consider:

At your college or university

Host a WakeUp for incoming freshman and new students as an inspiring context and catalyst for making their college & university experience one of the most meaningful & impactful times of their lives.

Invite diverse students and groups on your campus to come together for a 2 -3 hour event, and have your campus groups represented and tabling so people can get involved with all that is already happening.

Invite diverse students and groups on your campus to come together for a full day event, including a WakeUp for the first part of the day to create a shared context, and then host a World Café for the second half of the day to explore how everyone can collaborate to create a greater impact. (This process is also an ideal event for envisioning what a local Thrive Hub would look like and enrolling a leadership team to make it happen.)

At your high school

Host a WakeUp during the course of 1 or 2 classes, after school, or on the weekend. Involve the student groups and leadership teams at your school so that participants can get involved and collaborate with each other.

Host a full day event, including a WakeUp for the first part of the day to create a shared context, and then host a World Café for the second half of the day to explore how everyone can collaborate to create greater impact. (This process is also an ideal event for envisioning what a Thrive Hub at your high school would look like and enrolling a leadership team to make it happen.)

Gen Up also offers a 1 hour high school assembly program that can be hosted for a whole grade level or a whole school. Contact us at wakeup@generationwakingup.org to learn more and schedule an assembly at your school.

At your conference or in your community…

Host a WakeUp at the start of your conference to help frame your event with the big-picture context of our generation and time, and a sense of all that is possible.

Host a WakeUp with a multi-generational group of community members to explore your local issues and how you can collaborate across generations to create change.

Host a WakeUp at your local community center bringing together young people from one program or from many different groups and neighborhoods.

Generation Waking Up offers both grassroots WakeUps that are led by local facilitators, and we also offer professional WakeUps that are led by seasoned facilitators who deliver powerful programs from one hour to a half-day or full-day experience.
